It’s Monday again! Let’s start the week off right with this poem from an unknown author about the game of life. This poem in particular talks about daring greatly and doing more than just talking, we have to start doing.
Remember to write down your goals for this week today. It is amazing how much more you can get done with written goals! Make your game plan and then get in the game!
Playing The Game
Life is a game with a glorious prize,
If we can only play it right.
It is give and take, build and break,
And often it ends in a fight;
But he surely wins who honestly tries
(Regardless of wealth or fame),
He can never despair who plays it fair
How are you playing the game?…
Summer is here and in Arizona it means some really hot weather. Those of us who live here spend time moving from an air-conditioned house to an air-conditioned car to the air-conditioned store and back again. Or we end up in a swimming pool.
As soon as our kids are out of school, they start swim team. Every morning they go to one of the public pools for an hour and work on their swim strokes. Then, every Thursday night is the swim meet, where they can compete for a ribbon.
My oldest son is a really good swimmer. He learned to swim really young and he is just a natural in the water.
He also has a tough time wanting to go and compete.
He feels most comfortable staying at home where his world is predictable and there is little fear of failure.…Read More »
Well have no fear, there is still time to do great things! Did you know that on average 40% of the points scored in an NFL game come in the 4th quarter? That doesn’t make sense does it? If every player is a professional and giving a 100% effort from the start to the finish of a game, the breakdown should be 25% of the points in each of the four quarters.
But something happens in those final minutes of the game. The players and coaches have something in reserve; an extra effort.…Read More »
I was a biology and history major in college so I took a ton of science classes both in undergrad and later in dental school. One of the basic principles of biology is based around how molecules move in and out of cells in our body. There are number of different ways this happens but the two I want to focus on are called “passive diffusion” and “active transport”.
Diffusion happens without any real effort. The basic principle is this: If there is more of one kind of molecule in one area and less in another, the molecules will spread themselves out until there is an even balance. It happens without any energy being used up and really no energy is produced. It would be like pouring a glass of water into a large pan.…Read More »
