An Open Letter to My Critics

This morning I read this wonderful post from a man named Russ Hill. If you haven’t read any of his stuff, it is very well-written. His blog is here: www.russhillmedia.com.

We all have critics. Especially when we set lofty goals or dare to try something new. Even if you are just trying to express your feelings, there are people who are waiting to pounce and discredit everything you feel. I really enjoy the thoughts in the following letter:

Fear: A Figment of Your Imagination?

This weekend I heard a wonderful illustration about fear and focus that I thought deserved to be repeated on a larger scale.

Balance Beam Let us imagine that I took a long plank that was 50 feet long and 1 foot wide. I put it up on cinder blocks so that it is about 3 feet off of the ground. At one end I place a $20 bill. I challenge you to walk from one end of the plank to the other without falling off. If you make it, you get the $20 bill. Sounds pretty easy, right? I think all of us could do it pretty easily without too much anxiety.

Now let’s imagine that I take the exact same plank and place it across a narrow and deep canyon with a raging river flowing at the bottom and razor-sharp rocks jutting out from the walls.… Read the rest!

Wake Up

Last night someone asked me why I started Successify! I have always had different answers to this question but none of them ever seemed to describe why I really started it or what it’s purpose is.

As I thought more about it on the drive home, these words came to mind:

“I look out and see a world full of promise and opportunity…and it is waiting.

I look around and see people full of promise and potential…but they are sleeping.”

And I realized that it was a great way to describe what I’m trying to do. I feel like we live in an amazing world where it has been proven time and time again that ANYBODY can rise up and create a fabulous and successful life.… Read the rest!
